the villagers

The village is so much more than a space, it is a community that supports each other, works together and creates impact on societal challenges.  Curious to meet who are the villagers that coul be your potential neighbours?

marleen van bergeijk

Meet Marleen van Bergelijk: a social designer, curator at the Embassy of Health, and independent studio owner. Her main focus is on concepts surrounding health, aiming to teach others how to use creative tools within healthcare systems—a niche subject that has fascinated her since her student days at TU/E. In our We Are Village, Marleen is the one who always stops for a chat and can certainly distract you from your work for a while. Keeping it social is part of our community, after all!

Myrthe krepel

Meet Myrthe Krepel, the third Villager we’re excited to introduce. Myrthe is a performative maker and researcher exploring social structures and behaviors. With a blend of seriousness and playfulness, she fosters collaboration to co-create new social frameworks. Her diverse work includes installations, performances, audio walks, and workshops, often set in daily-life environments. Currently, she's occupied with her work at her own studio in We Are Village, where she continues to think of even more creative ideas and projects.

Robin vermeulen

Robin is a versatile cultural professional, often occupied with finding funding opportunities and writing proposals for various creatives and organisations in the field. He has the skills to create, showcase, and organize almost anything within the art and culture sector. After spending 10 years in Amsterdam, Robin sought a change of scenery and found his place in our village. Here, he not only works but also collaborates with the rest of the multidisciplinary villagers and designers at Foundation We Are. Can't find him in the village? You might spot him cruising through the city on his bike, seeking unique photo opportunities!

Karin mommers

Karin is the curious connector who is navigating the path of ever-changing landscapes and challenges. Karin is an industrial and organizational psychologist and process supervisor. She is also the co-founder of Operatie Frisse Peper and Snelbinders. In her work, she encourages co-creation and involvement of artists and social designers, in finding innovative solutions. Inspired by change, Karin focuses her current research on where change isn't happening within organizational and societal systems. With her motto "never stop moving," she takes on the role of the structure-er in our village full of independent makers and do-ers.

Foundation We Are

Foundation We Are is the organization behind the village, proudly calling ourselves the Institute for Unexpected Collaborations. Our mission is to foster collaboration among diverse individuals. Located in the village, we have our own dedicated workspace and an upstairs office. We design and implement programs that facilitate innovative collaborations, and we manage the event and exhibition space. Through our initiatives, we aim to create a vibrant community where unique partnerships and creative ideas can flourish. We are always happy to see more people join the Village.

Community square

Community square is the restaurant at the Village run by Esmee Jongejans. Esmee has a passion for food and wants to make a space for as many different people as possible to relax, refresh and connect . That's why she joined the village to create a space where a community can relax and so that the villagers can invite clients, partners and the neighbourhood to visit.

Community square is open from Monday - Saturday starting from September 2024.
