Foundation We Are invites you to our current exposition, available for viewing until October 12th. This exhibition offers a diverse range of design topics, each showing a different perspective on societal issues.
From Health-care to human rights, you will find a wide spectrum of design disciplines represented here. We encourage you to engage with these projects, ask questions, and share your thoughts.
Your visit is an opportunity to be part of the conversation and consider how creativity and collaboration can be a driving force for positive transformation. We look forward to seeing you.
“We are Human Rights”
Foundation We Are
“We are Human Rights” is a collaboration between seven designers and seven human rights defenders. Together, they address human rights issues and explore how design can support human rights defenders in Burundi, Colombia, Kenya, Nicaragua, Mexico, Sudan, and Russia. “We are Human Rights” also serves as the founding initiative of the Foundation We Are.
Area-Based Work
Karin Mommers
Why do you work in an area-based approach?
We asked this question to employees, and everyone gave a different answer. This question, therefore, raised many perceptions. We worked for almost 2 years, with ups and downs, in working sessions to achieve concrete outcomes. This resulted in a description of the vision of area-based work, the values, approaches, and conditions. And three concrete tasks for the employees that serve as guidelines.
DOK Tool
Marleen van Bergeijk
In a medical environment, children can unintentionally be overwhelmed.
This communication tool helps structure a conversation using physical blocks. An interactive mat records what has been said and converts it into a printed timeline without additional administrative burden. This tool supports the child before, during, and after the conversation.
Facets of Tangier
Robin Vermeulen
“Facets of Tangier” is a visual exploration of the urban development of the North Moroccan city of Tangier. Six photographers from Morocco and the Netherlands captured various facets of a city in motion, from the old medina to the forests along the beach and the stark new suburbs.
This is Ecocide
Bernhard Lenger
“This is Ecocide” is an awareness campaign to classify ‘ecocide’ as the fifth crime against peace to internationally criminalize extensive environmental damage. It is a physical and digital platform where people can speak out against the destruction of the earth. The goal is to create a movement through this platform to make serious ecosystem destruction illegal. With “This is Ecocide,” Bernhard Lenger contributed to the work of the British lawyer, the late Polly Higgins, and Stop Ecocide International.
Health Overshoot Day
Marleen van Bergeijk & Studio Social Central
What does a fair distribution of limited available healthcare look like in the Netherlands in 2040? Imagine this: all fifty-year-olds in the Netherlands are invited to calculate their own Health Overshoot Day (HOD). Your health data, lifestyle, genetic predisposition, and postcode determine the moment when the state can no longer provide for your healthcare. What actionable perspective do you see?
The Stewards of the Dommel: A Gentle Manifesto
Kornelia Dimitrova & Felix Bell
This design research maps how various forms of care intersect and overlap along the Dommel River in Eindhoven. This gentle manifesto is created with contributions from 7 people who care for/about/with the river. What would happen if the stewards of the Dommel were more visible to each other? Would that promote their collaboration and resilience?
